June 22nd Sidewalk Chalk Design Inspiration
The Sidewalk Chalk Design Inspiration (for CullyFest!) Event was a big hit, bringing crowds, smiles, and curiosity to the 5 Corners intersection on Saturday, June 22, 2024, 10am-12pm. The event was hosted at Grace Presbyterian Church, located at the nexus of NE Prescott, Cully Blvd, and 60th Ave. It was a beautiful day to be drawing side-by-side with our Cully neighbors.
CON-FLU-ENCE
- a coming or flowing together, meeting, or gathering at one point
- the flowing together of two or more streams
This event allowed us to explore and reflect on the theme of the Confluence and the importance of culture and water in our lives. With chalk and a little inspiration, we collectively created a collage of images reflecting this “coming together of water and communities”.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
Our goal for June 22 was to invite Cully youth to explore the theme of Confluence to generate ideas and concepts (in chalk) with the support of four multicultural muralists. Throughout the two-hour event, the Cully youth and community generated dozens of ideas, concepts, and images that were captured with photography and video. Thanks to the work of our Fabulous Four Cully muralists, their collaboration will shape these images into the final composition for the sidewalk painting at the Sept 21st CullyFest! event.
